UN Youth Dialogue - Peru 2025
Written by: The Public Affairs team
On August 15th, the AWA Project was invited to participate in the UN Youth Dialogue, organized on the margins of the 30th Anniversary Program of Global Action for Youth and promoted by the United Nations. The space was hosted by inspiring organizations working to address pressing issues across Peru.
The AWA Project was responsible for the block titled “Today’s Reality,” where Mafer Chaparro and Priscila Quiroz, from our Public Affairs team, represented AWA. Together, we led the conversation on environmental issues. We presented alongside RUA, an organization focused on environmental action in university communities. After both organizations introduced themselves and we invited participants to engage with our initiatives, we posed three guiding questions. Participants reflected on:
The main environmental challenges faced by youth in Peru and the barriers limiting their participation.
How to ensure vulnerable communities are actively involved in sustainable solutions, avoiding external impositions.
The role of youth as agents of change to lead, promote sustainable solutions, and educate their communities on environmental protection.
Thanks to the collaboration with the United Nations Youth Delegates of Peru (UNYD Perú), the identified priorities will be submitted to the United Nations for consideration at the September High-Level Meeting.
This space highlighted the importance of uniting diverse organizations across Peru. It reinforced the urgency of raising our voices as youth leaders, working together to shape solutions for the challenges we face every day.
